Symptoms


When trying to logon to Squared Up a license warning is shown, such as:

“Unable to verify your product license. The license server returned the following error: The remote server returned an unexpected response: (405) Method Not Allowed."


Resolution


You may need to add the Windows Feature "HTTP Activation" on the primary server (the Squared Up server acting as the license server):


On Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2:

1. Open Server Manager.

2.  Click on Local Server and then scroll down 'Roles and Features'.

3.  Click on the Tasks button and select 'Add roles and features'.

4.  Click Next past the wizard instructions. if necessary.

5.  Click Next, and then with the correct server selected, click on Features.

  • If you have .NET Framework 3.5 installed expand it and tick HTTP Activation
  • if you have .NET Framework 4.5 installed expand it, then expand WCF Services, and tick HTTP Activation.

6.  Click Next and then Install.



On Windows Server 2008 R2:

1.  Open Server Manager.

2.  Right--click on the server name and select Add Features.

  • if you have .NET Framework 3.5 installed expand it, then expand WCF Activation, and tick HTTP Activation.
  • If you have .NET Framework 4.5 installed expand it, then expand WCF Services, and tick HTTP Activation

3.  Click the Install button.
