This issue can occur if the logon cookie is invalid or not stored properly by the browser - so the user just gets returned back to the logon page as if they had not logged on at all.


Check the server Application event log for any ASP.NET errors.  If you see the following event follow the resolution below:

Event code: 4005

Event message: Forms authentication failed for the request. Reason: The ticket supplied has expired.

That event log identifies it as an issue with the Forms Authentication cookie/ticket. It is marked expired as soon as it is created which suggests a time sync issue..


A. Check the time and timezone on the Squared Up server are the same.

B. Change forms authentication timeout to 24 hours (1440 minutes):

1. Navigate to SquaredUp (or SquaredUpv2 if running two versions alongside each other).

2. Double-click on the Authentication icon.

3. Right-click on Forms Authentication and select Edit.

4. In the Authentication cookie time-out (in minutes) text box, type 1440 and click OK.
