What does 'Upgrade test' mean?
If you opted to perform a side-by-side upgrade of Squared Up, you will probably see a label like the following in the upper right of the screen:
In fact, clicking this label is probably what brought you here.
This label is effectively a reminder that your side-by-side instance is not your primary (i.e. it is available on a URL other than /SquaredUp/). The intention being that it is in an experimental/testing state whilst you familiarise yourself with v2, and whilst you ensure that your dashboards still work as you expect.
With Squared Up v2 and v1 installed side-by-side you can access both v1 and v2.
You can access v1 from:
You can access v2 from:
If you are ready to move to having v2 as your main and only version, you can follow the instructions below to make v2 available at the live site /SquaredUp/
How do I switch between live versions?
How do I remove this label?
The following command will invalidate any sessions. Although it's very quick to perform, treat this process as if it were taking your dashboard temporarily offline for maintenance (for ~20 seconds)
Switching between live versions is easily achieved by using the Squared Up configuration tool. From a command prompt with administrative privileges, simply issue the following command:
You will see output such as the following:
Intending to make live: Squared Up 2.0 @ C:\inetpub\wwwroot\SquaredUpv2
Currently live version: Squared Up 1.9 @ C:\inetpub\wwwroot\SquaredUp
Moving Squared Up v1.9 to SquaredUpv1...
Moving Squared Up v2.0 to SquaredUp...
Finished. Squared Up v2.0 is now the live site, located under /SquaredUp
And that's it. Version 2 will now be the live site, available under the /SquaredUp/ URL. Note that this process doesn't move or remove any files on disk: it is just changing IIS settings.
The 'Upgrade test' label will automatically be removed.
If you want to switch back again, just do the following:
"C:\inetpub\wwwroot\SquaredUpv2\Tools\config.exe" makelive 1.9
Similar output will appear, and 1.9 will once again be available via the /SquaredUp/ URL
The process failed or produced an unwanted result
"C:\inetpub\wwwroot\SquaredUpv2\Tools\config.exe" --verbose makelive > "C:\inetpub\wwwroot\SquaredUpv2\Tools\livelog.log"
The file produced by this command (C:\inetpub\wwwroot\SquaredUpv2\Tools\livelog.log) should be attached to your ticket in order to assist support
