The Squared Up Alerts section enables you to view SCOM alerts on your dashboards. This document describes how to get started with the Alerts plugin.

Adding Alerts to a Dashboard

Create a new section within the dashboard designer, and select 'Alerts' from the Type.

Setting the Scope

For more information on setting the scope see How to set the scope using the dashboard designer.

For more complex configurations use Advanced - Criteria in the Scope, see How to use criteria when scoping alerts

For example, to filter all alerts by name you can enter a string in Criteria under Advanced:

Name = 'Failed to Connect to Computer'

or for all Critical Severity and High Priority alerts:

Severity=2 OR Priority=2

Severity levels for alerts:

Critical = 2

Warning = 1

Information = 0

Priority levels for alerts:

High = 2

Medium = 1

Low = 0

Setting the Filter

Alerts can be filtered by severity, source, owner, state. By default these are all set to 'any' but can be set in any combination.

Setting Max items

By default 'Max items' is enabled and set to 3, this value can be configured to any amount of alerts you wish to display. Once this property is unchecked all alerts will be displayed on your dashboard.

The timeframe for the Alerts plugin is configured outside of the Settings grid and is at the top right of the plugin.

SCOM Alerts can be managed from the Alerts plugin by clicking on an alert and drilling down for further information.

Setting Columns

By default, you should see the following columns: name | objectName | objectPath | timeRaised | owner | resolutionStateName

The columns can be modified, added to, deleted, and re-ordered using + and delete. To configure custom fields see the following article; Updating Custom Fields.

Updating Alert States

Alert states can be updated individually (by clicking the update state button), or in bulk:

Select multiple alerts using the checkbox on the right.

Select a state to set from the top of the Alert Plugin which you would like to apply.

Updating Alert States in bulk

XML Configuration

The dashboard designer writes these settings as XML to a dashboard file within C:\inetpub\wwwroot\SquaredUpv2\Configuration\Views. Below is an example of the XML it will write for this section:

          <Filters />
          <Objects />
