A Status section displays the rolled up health of items in the chosen scope.
Configuring a Status section
Setting the Scope
The scope allows you to configure which objects a section or a page shows.
The scope is pretty important when using the Status plugin, so we've written a separate article all about it: How to set the scope using the dashboard designer.
The Advanced option allows you to use a Class rather than a group, or to use Criteria to only show servers with particular names: How to use criteria when scoping objects
When you set the scope at the page level you can configure all sections to inherit the page scope and therefore show information about the same set of objects. See How to use the page scope
In v2.2 onwards you can configure the objects labels. See How to edit object labels in Status sections
'Sort by' will put the objects in ascending or descending order according to name, path or health state or more. 'Group by' will put the objects under subheadings, with the groups in ascending or descending order. See How to use Sort by and Group by to sort objects in Status sections
Tile, Column, and List buttons
The Tile, Column, and List buttons allow you to control the default Status display format.
Click 'done' to complete the Status section.
The dashboard designer writes these settings as XML to a dashboard file within C:\inetpub\wwwroot\SquaredUpv2\Configuration\Views. Below is an example of the XML it will write for this section:
<Section> <Id>1426604328591</Id> <Title>New section</Title> <Plugin>status</Plugin> <ScomData> <DataType>object</DataType> <Scope> <Group>6f7e3306-beeb-2996-3795-7c1eafb925b8</Group> <Filters /> <Objects /> </Scope> </ScomData> <Settings> <NameValueSetting> <Name>zoom</Name> <Value>column-list</Value> </NameValueSetting> </Settings> </Section>
XML Settings Reference
The Settings element can contain zero or more NameValueSetting elements. These define the default user settings for the ObjectSection. Each user can override these settings and personalize the view using the user interface.
The following are the valid Name and Value elements for the NameValueSettings.
